COMMUTER RAIL / SURVEILLANCE / SYSTEMS INTEGRATION

Station & Facility Video Surveillance — 1,000+ Cameras

Enabled Consultants delivered infrastructure design, NVR configuration, and full system commissioning for a system-wide video surveillance environment of more than 1,000 cameras across over 60 stations and facilities. The deployment runs on Milestone XProtect, integrated with the new backbone data network and the network monitoring system.

Scope

Infrastructure design, NVR sizing and configuration, system commissioning across all sites, and integration of Milestone XProtect with the backbone data network and NMS.

Highlights

Over 1,000 cameras operational across 60+ sites with optimized live viewing, archived retrieval, and analytics pipelines.

Project context

Each station and facility brought its own backhaul, sight lines, and retrofit constraints. The system had to absorb that variation and stay performant under the aggregate camera count once everything came online.

PROJECT_02
COMMUTER RAIL / FIBER / DWDM / BACKBONE DATA NETWORK

Backbone Data Network — 400 Gbps Aggregate DWDM

Enabled Consultants designed a greenfield Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) backbone data network that multiplied the bandwidth available on the agency's existing fiber plant where new strand capacity was constrained. The architecture delivers 40 independent 10 Gbps channels — 400 Gbps of aggregate capacity — carrying surveillance, voice, and operational data with the resiliency and switching flexibility a 24/7 transit environment requires.

Scope

Greenfield design of a high-capacity backbone data network using DWDM to expand effective bandwidth where physical fiber was limited.

Highlights

40 independent 10 Gbps wavelengths (400 Gbps aggregate) carried over the existing fiber plant, with resiliency and operational flexibility built into the backbone rather than bolted on later.

Project context

Adding strand capacity in an active rail corridor is expensive, slow, and disruptive. DWDM let the agency add the bandwidth surveillance growth required without replacing the underlying fiber.

WIRELESS / MM MICROWAVE / BACKHAUL / NETWORK ENGINEERING

mmMicrowave Point-to-Point Backhaul — 10 Gbps, 6.5 Miles

Enabled Consultants engineered a 6.5-mile mmMicrowave point-to-point backhaul link using the Siklu EH-8010FX, delivering 10 Gbps full-duplex connectivity between two sites with no available terrestrial high-bandwidth options. mmMicrowave radios capable of this throughput are relatively new technology at the upper edge of commercially available point-to-point throughput.

Scope

Path engineering, link-budget analysis, mounting and alignment specifications, and field coordination for a 6.5-mile mmMicrowave point-to-point installation.

Highlights

10 Gbps full-duplex over 6.5 miles wireless — fiber-equivalent capacity without a fiber run — using next-generation mmMicrowave radios at the upper edge of commercially available point-to-point throughput.

Project context

No terrestrial high-bandwidth options were available between the two endpoints, so the choice was wireless or no link.

PASSENGER INFORMATION / SOFTWARE / SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Custom Software Development — CIS with Multilingual TTS & Real-Time Signage

Enabled Consultants built EIDANS — the firm's Electronic Information Display and Notification System — as a custom Customer Information System (CIS) for Los Angeles Union Station, driving the electronic signs on the train platforms with live arrival, departure, and service-alert information for riders waiting for trains. EIDANS also generated real-time text-to-speech audio announcements in multiple languages, keeping visual signage and audible passenger information synchronized across the station.

Scope

Custom software platform driving electronic signage announcements and schedules, plus real-time multilingual text-to-speech audio for passenger announcements.

Highlights

Multilingual text-to-speech audio paired with real-time visual signage updates — built in-house rather than assembled from off-the-shelf CIS products.

Project context

LA Union Station is the busiest passenger rail hub in the western United States, with tens of thousands of riders moving through every day. The CIS kept arrival, departure, and service-alert information current across the station's displays and synchronized with multilingual audio announcements throughout the day.

STAFF AUGMENTATION / 24/7 OPERATIONS / TECHNICAL SUPPORT

24/7 Operations Center Staff Augmentation

Enabled Consultants provides backoffice technical staff to a client's 24-hour operations center, covering off-hours shifts so the client has genuine technical depth on the floor around the clock without permanently growing headcount. The arrangement is ongoing and embedded in the client's standing operations.

Scope

Backoffice technical staff augmentation embedded in a client's 24-hour operations center, providing off-hours coverage as part of standing operations.

Highlights

Continuous off-hours technical coverage at a 24/7 ops center — embedded staff rather than ticket-based remote response.

Project context

Off-hours operations centers need real technical depth, not just monitoring. Embedded staff augmentation closes that gap without the client absorbing the full cost of an additional permanent hire.

Scope of experience

Work across multiple technical domains.

The work spans communications infrastructure, wireless backhaul, surveillance systems, systems integration, software-enabled applications, and active program support — each delivered within the coordination and documentation requirements of large public-sector programs.

Prime contractors and agencies evaluate partners on technical credibility, delivery reliability, and the capacity to contribute across multiple scopes without introducing coordination overhead. These projects reflect that standard.
